I haven't been too active in the digital design world lately. I have been so busy with a couple of other business ventures. I have decided to take a break from digital design for a while. However, I am still doing custom cards and custom photo creations. So keep me in mind if you need help with anything.

Here are a couple of my latest designs.

New Kit to help raise money for the fight against Cancer

I am so excited about this new kit. But first I need to give you some background. I have been participating in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life for the last 4 years. After my mother passed away due to Multiple Myeloma 5 years ago this week, I felt I needed to do something to help with the fight for a cure. In addition, my good friend Eliza had also been fighting her own fight against Breast Cancer. At the age of 26 years old, she was diagnosed and began her fight for survival. She is the mother of 3 small children and knew she had plenty to live for. It has now been almost 5 years since she was diagnosed and she is cancer free. For the last 4 years, I have been a part of Eliza's Relay For Life team. As a team we rally our efforts to raise money for cancer research. This year we have chosen a theme for our Relay Camp. It will be based around owls. For the last several years we have had t-shirts that say "Save the Hooters" with little owls on them and we decided to take that a step further and see how much owl stuff we can find to make and sell at our booth.

So here it is, my Save the Hooters digital scrapbooking kit, just one of my efforts to help raise money for our Relay Team this year. Proceeds from the sales of this kit will be donated to Relay for Life through our team.

Upcoming Classes

I am looking at adding two more class sessions this spring. I am going to do a 6 week evening course starting in April. Each class will be 1.5 hours starting at 7 pm and I am thinking it will probably be on Wednesday nights.

I am also looking at doing a condensed class that will be 3 weeks of 3 hour classes. This class will also be in April and will probably be on Fridays. It will cover the same material as my other classes we will just do it in 3 weeks instead of 6.

Photo timing...ugh!!!

Don't you hate it when the timing of the subjects in your photo is just off. It can completely ruin a photo opportunity. Case in point...My daughter and her 5 friends wanted to do a photo of them all jumping in their homecoming dresses. 6 girls jumping together...the timing had to be perfect. Well it wasn't.

Here is what I ended up with in sequential photos.

We tried several times and it never got any better.

So today I decided to try my hand at splicing the two photos together and see what I could do. Here is the result. I think it turned out pretty darn good.

It took a little bit of time to get everything to look right. I had to mess with the purple dress a bit but all in all I am quite pleased with the results. You'll be seeing the photo in a layout when I announce my newest kit next week.

New Large Family Photo Collage Templates

Hey everybody, I have been working on some fun new product ideas. I have created some large scale photo collage templates. The first one is done and in my store now. Here is a sample of what it looks like.

It is a layered psd file and is available in 16x20, 20x24, or 24x36 sizes. It is simple to use and will look great on your wall. You can buy any size for just $5.99.

Just change the color, put in your photos and change the text, then have it printed at your favorite printer. I used Sam's club and got a 20x24 print for just $8. They also do canvas prints there too. There are many options.

Valentine's Day Cards...

First a little history on Valentine's Day Cards

Valentine greetings have been popular since the Middle Ages, a time when prospective lovers said or sang their romantic verses. Written valentines began to appear after 1400. Paper valentines originated in the 1500s, being exchanged in Europe and being given in place of valentine gifts and oral or musical valentine greetings. They were particularly popular in England. The first written valentine (formerly known as "poetical or amorous addresses") is traditionally attributed to the imprisoned Charles, Duke of Orleans, in 1415. While confined in the Tower of London after the Battle of Agincourt, the young Duke reportedly passed his time by writing romantic verses for his wife in France. Approximately sixty of the Duke's poems remain and can be seen among the royal papers in the British Museum. They are credited with being the first modern day valentines.

By the Sixteenth Century, written valentines were commonplace and by the Seventeenth Century, it was a widespread tradition in England and other Western countries for friends and sweethearts to exchange gifts and notes on February 14.

Today, a valentine card is usually accompanied by the more elaborate gifts of candy, flowers and perfume. Nevertheless, Valentine's Day Cards remain extremely popular and are manufactured on an enormous scale...cards may be purchased for sweethearts, spouses, children, parents, teachers and even pets. In terms of the sheer numbers of greetings sent annually, February 14 ranks second only to Christmas.

I am going to be offering another session of my class "Digital Scrapbooking Using Photoshop Elements" starting in September. The classes will be held in my home 1 day a week for 6 weeks. Each class will last about 90 minutes and the cost for the course is $50. You must have Elements 6 or 7 installed on your computer and have a laptop for use in class.

I discovered digi-scrapping while browsing the shelves at our local library. I brought home a book, checked it out again for the maximum number of times allowed (a total of nine weeks!!) and devoured it. I have been hooked ever since. It has given me direction in what to do with my photo restoration skillet and the years and years of photos that now fill one of the children's bedrooms. I am a mother of five, and grandmother of two. You can imagine that I have a lot of catching up to do! I live in Tampa, Florida and am long-time married to a Tampa native (rare these days.) I am looking forward to participating on Michelle's creative team and anticipate learning much from everyone.

I am a mom to 5 kids ranging in age from 22 months to 21 years old and am married to my high school sweetheart, Tom. I work part time at my local JoAnn store as the Education Coordinator and teach cake decorating class once a week. I am also involved in our school district's annual spring musical. I love to read books, especially Stephen King, Fern Michaels & James Patterson novels. I also love to sew & quilt, do just about any craft and spend time with my family & friends.

Like many of you, I am waiting rather impatiently for the release of New Moon next week. While I liked Twilight overall, I think there were some areas that could be improved upon, and I am confident that the director for New Moon has made those improvement. The movie looks like it is going to be amazing and I cannot wait for it to come out!!!

Just For You Digi Cards

I have opened an Etsy shop featuring customizable digital Holiday Cards. Here is how it works. You choose a card sample that you like from my shop. Make your purchase, then email me your choices for color, font, and sentiment along with your photo(s). I will then customize your card and send you a proof. Once you approve your proof, I will send you a JPEG file of your card that you can have printed at the place you choose. Places that print cards include, Walmart, Sam's Club, Costco, Walgreens, pretty much any place that prints photos. There are also online options like Snapfish and Shutterfly as well.

The cost for this service is just $15 nd includes a reasonable number of revisions, though once we start on a style of card that cannot be changed unless you pay an extra fee.

I have loaded a few cards into the shop, but hope to add more every day and will also be adding cards for other occassions including Valentine's Day, Baby Announcements, Wedding Announcements, Invitations, and so much more.

Rainbow of Hope (Cancer Charity Collab) and a Freebie

Many of us have been touched by cancer, in some form, in one way or another. Personally, I have lost my mother and my grandmother to this terrible disease and watched several friends and acquaintances battle cancer as well. That is why I decided to form a group to work on this very special kit.

All proceeds from the sale of this kit and it's coordinating Quick Page Set will be donated to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

So here it is

"Rainbow of Hope"

Here is a layout I did using my portion on the kit. This is my mom who died of Multiple Myeloma on March 12, 2006. She was so courageous in her 3 year battle and fought her cancer with everything she had right to the end.We didn't want to exclude any forms of cancer, and hopefully we have touched on most if not all of them. The kit includes 60 papers, 76 elements and an alpha. There are awareness ribbons in each of the colors represented. The colors chosen for this kit represent the following forms of cancer.

Orange: leukemia

Yellow: Liver cancer, bladder cancer, osteosarcoma

Green: kidney cancer

Blue: colon cancer

Purple: pancreatic cancer, cancer in general

White bone cancer

Black: melanoma

Brown: colorectal cancer

Grey: brain cancer

Lime green: lymphoma

Teal: ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers

Burgundy: multiple myeloma

Periwinkle: stomach cancer

Pink: breast cancer

Light blue: prostate cancer

Pearl: lung cancer

We have also designed a set of coordinating Quick Pages to go along with the kit.

Falling For Fall Quick Pages

Hello All, well it is definitely turning to fall weather here in Colorado. It is a blustery day today. I am looking out the window of my office noticing how quickly the trees seem to have changed over to their fall colors, the wind is blowing and it is so much cooler than 2 weeks ago. It is nice, but I must admit I am sad to see summer go.

We have had a rough couple of days around here. Myoldest daughter broke her pinky finger playing volleyball the other day and she actually had to have surgery to fix it. Yes her pinky finger, she had to have 2 screws put in. Anyway, I have been busy taking care of her and helping her to get all her school work done. Of course it is her right hand so she is having some trouble writing for herself.
